3 Keys to Getting the Results You Want

Just after Dave and I married, we immediately wanted a child to love. Like tomorrow. And though we conceived, we miscarried. Not once. Not twice, but three times. Which left us feeling pretty frustrated and hopeless about getting what we wanted – a child to love.

If you’ve got your eyes on a prize – releasing sticky pounds, creating your own business, cultivating a passionate relationship, or birthing a child into this world – there are three keys to getting the results you want. Following this strategy will not only empower you to charge forward toward your dreams but save you a whole lot of time, energy, and in some cases, money along the way.

 

Get Crystal Clear on What You Want & Why You Want It

 

Most of the time, we’re crystal clear on what we don’t want. I don’t want to be fat. I don’t want to fail. I don’t want to pick up the phone and call that person. If you’re like me, you have a list of ‘don’t wants’ you can rattle off lickety-split. One key to getting the results you want is to get crystal clear on what you want and why you want it. For example, I don’t want to be fat becomes I want to release 10 pounds. The best tool on how to get crystal clear on why you want what you want I learned from Dean Graziosi. It’s called the 7-Level Deep Exercise.

The 7-Level Deep exercise starts with Level 01 asking ‘what you want’ and proceeds seven levels deep, asking ‘why is it important for you to fill in the blank with what you want?’ For example, Level 01: I want to release 10 pounds. Level 02: Why is it important for you to release 10 pounds? Because I want more energy. Level 03: Why is it important for you to have more energy? Because I want to play with my kids. Level 04: Why is it important for you to play with your kids? You keep asking ‘Why’ until you get to Level 07. It’s a crazy simple tool, yet incredibly profound. Your 7-Level Deep Why is your emotional fuel that drives you forward when the going gets tough on the road to getting what you want.

Now that you’ve defined your target (what you want) and your emotional fuel (why you want it), it’s time to find a proven strategy to get the results you want.

One key to getting the results you want is to get crystal clear on what you want and why you want it.

Find a Proven-Strategy

When my youngest was about two years old, I hit the gym to get my pre-baby body back. After a solid year of effort, I felt and looked pretty much the same! In my search for answers, I found a personal trainer and bought her 90-day at-home workout program. I not only experienced jaw-dropping transformational results and felt amazing. I learned the importance of following a proven system with an experienced guide.

I’m always looking for proven-strategies with experienced guides. This very blog post is following a proven-strategy I learned from an experienced entrepreneur! Who’s already got the results you’re trying to get? Do they have a proven map for you to follow? Some tools to make your journey easier? If so, they likely have a tribe of people for you. The trifecta of a proven-strategy uses a map with proven tools, following a guide who’s been to the promised land you seek and can surround you with an empowering community to keep you accountable to getting the results you desire.

 

Align Your Actions with the Results You Desire

 

Working my way through a Tony Robbins course, he mentioned something that struck me square in the face: “You don’t get your shoulds, you only get your musts.” If you want to release 10 sticky pounds, but they’re still hanging on, chances are you made releasing 10 pounds a nice-to-have, not a must-have. Ouch! I know because I’m guilty of not taking action to get my desired results. What the heh?

It turns out that humans are motivated by pain more than pleasure. We need a stick to jab us into action and turn our ‘shoulds’ into ‘musts!’ Focus on the joy you’ll feel once you get the result you want. Then jab yourself with the massive pain you’ll experience if you don’t take action to get what you want. Blow that ugly pain up so big. Make it feel so horrifically nasty that you’ll do anything to avoid it. It’s incredible how fast you’ll turn your “shoulds” into “musts” and get into massive action!

There ya have it. Three keys to getting the results you want, saving you time, energy, and most likely money along the way!
