Last night I sat down with my daughter to talk about a decision I’ve been asking her to make for some time. Her repeated answer “I don’t know” was frustrating because I wanted to check this item off my to-do list within 10 minutes. She wanted time with me to talk it through.

I made our talk and this to-do item a must and dove in with both feet, fully present with her. I lovingly took her through options A and B and shared how I make decisions in life. We laughed, and she cried. Almost an hour in, no-decision had been made.

Part of me wanted to bail – get me outta stuckness – and head into a comforting nightly stroll with my husband before bed. Then he joined our conversation, and within the next 10 minutes, she made her decision. She hugged me and said, “Thank you. I think that’s the hardest decision I’ve ever made in my life.”

It seemed like a simple decision for me. Then I realized: my daughter said no to something she’s vested in but doesn’t love wholeheartedly. That’s never easy! But with that no, came the freedom to say yes to something more promising –  where her investment may yield a more bountiful harvest.

“It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.” – Tony Robbins

  • Are you stuck: one foot in option A and another in option B?
  • Or all-in: wholeheartedly committed to your decision?

Make your decision and go 100% all-in!

It could be a decision about your health: eating 100% gluten-free, giving 100% effort in your next workout. It could be a decision about your job or career: are you putting in half-effort and expecting full results? It could be a decision within a relationship: are you withholding a part of your heart and expecting a profoundly fulfilling relationship connected through vulnerability?

Hugging my daughter at that moment felt so rewarding. We accomplished something together, diving in with both feet, loving our way through different perspectives, and multiplying the outcome. She made a decision, and our relationship grew a more bountiful harvest.

Fractional efforts yield poor results.

Wholeheartedly commit, keep faith in the process, and watch your investment yield extraordinary results.
