During my morning meditation/reflection time, I read self-development books. Growing myself to serve others better is my highest need, second only to love and connection. I crave growth; without it, life feels stale.
At first, growth feels exciting, but quickly pulls and pushes me into uncomfortable places. That’s when I have to remind myself:
- What do I want?
- Why do I want it?
As I open myself to grow bigger than my current challenge, life unfolds in unexpectedly profound ways.
I never foresaw the challenge of pregnancy and grew through multiple losses to raise three daughters. Practicing medicine as my heart desires (which wasn’t always easy) grew me into a holistic pediatrician and wellness expert. Now, helping adults live fit and financially free lives is expanding me to impact health globally.
Growth is a wild roller-coaster ride of grinding fear-filled uphills followed by exhilarating flowing downhills.
I don’t love every moment, but I’m without question hooked for life.
What do I want? To live joyfully and grow me to serve others as a positive force for God. Why do I want it? So I can gracefully help millions of children live happier, healthier lives. I was born for this.
What do you want? Why do you want it?
As John C. Maxwell preaches, “Everything worthwhile is uphill.” Almost everything that has a purpose requires growth on your part to attain it.
May you continue to grow and go get it!
